Benoît, Suzanne, Chief Executive Officer, Aéro Montréal (Montréal)
Suzanne M. Benoît took on the role of Chief Executive Officer of Aéro Montréal, the aerospace cluster of Metropolitan Montréal, in August 2006. Prior to joining Aéro Montréal, she led Longueuil Economic Development Agency as its President and CEO, from the day it was founded in 2003. From 1999 to 2003, she joined Investissement Québec as Director of the Americas Division leading the Foreign Investment team. Between 1991 and 1999, Suzanne Benoît held various management positions with Hydro-Québec including Director for Governmental and Institutional Relations and Director for Industrial and Economic Development in the utility’s Major Industrial Clients Division.
She is very active in the field of economic development both on the national and international level. From 2004 to 2007, she acted as the Chair of the International Affairs Committee for the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montréal. Suzanne Benoît also sits on several boards of directors, namely those of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada (Montréal), the Caisse populaire Desjardins Charles-LeMoyne, as well as the executive committee of the Hôpital Charles-LeMoyne foundation, and the Association des MBA du Québec from whom she received the Prix Tremplin in 2004. In addition, she was recently appointed by Minister Raymond Bachand as a member of the advisory board for the government of Québec’s Fonds de maturation technologique.
Aéro Montréal, think tank of the Aerospace Cluster of Metropolitain Montréal, is a Public Private Partnership which brings together the leaders of the aerospace sector from industry, educational institutions, research centres through associations and trade unions. Aéro Montréal's mission is to foster and maintain an environment conducive to increased productivity and accelerated growth in the aerospace sector that it remains a source of wealth creation even more important for the Greater Montréal, Québec and Canada. It thus contributes to strengthen the position of the aerospace industry in the Greater Montréal and to ensure its competitiveness against other centres of aerospace leaders in the world.
