Yano, Dr. Ryoji, Senior Director, Pro-Cluster Kobe, Foundation for Biomedical Research and Innovation (FBRI) (Kobe, Japan)
Dr. Ryoji Yano is Senior Director of the Pro-Cluster Kobe of the Foundation for Biomedical Research and Innovation (FBRI) since 2005, as well as Assistant Director of Research, responsible for the Biomedical Cluster Kansai in Kobe, Japan. He graduated from the Physics Department of the Kyoto University in 1982 and the Genetics Department of the Institute for Virus Research of the Kyoto University in 1988. He received a Doctorate from the same university one year later, in March 1989.
Before holding his current positions, Dr. Yano Ryoji served, from 2003 to 2007, as Director of Research, responsible for the Kobe Transnational Research Cluster and, from 2003 to 2006, as an Affiliated Member of the National Institute of Science and Technology Policy of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan. While Director of the Laboratory for Cellular Information Processing of the RIKEN Brain Science Institute from 1995 to 2002, he was Visiting Professor at the Niigata University Brain Research Institute for three consecutive years.
Founded in 2000 in Kobe, the FBRI is the leading organization of management of the Kobe Medical Industry Development Project. The FBRI develops and supports research and clinical trials to promote innovation in advanced medical technologies. The Foundation works in coordination with the industry, the academic institutions and the local or central government to create a life sciences cluster in the Kobe and Kansai region.
