Elected as a Liberal MNA for Outremont riding in the March 26, 2007, general election since April 18, 2007. He is also Minister of Tourism, Minister responsible for the Montréal region and Chair of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Prosperity and Sustainable Development.
Mr. Bachand holds a Doctoral degree in Administration and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Harvard University. He has been a member of the Québec Bar since 1970, after obtaining a Licentiate in Law from the Université de Montréal. He served on many boards of directors, particularly the La Survivance (2005), the Board of Trade of Metropolitan Montréal (2004-2005), the France-Canada Chamber of Commerce in Paris (2004-2005) and the French Chamber of Commerce in Canada (2004 2005).
At Secor Conseil, he served as Partner and Chairman of the Board (2005) and President and CEO (2002-2005). He was also President and CEO (2002-2005) and First Vice-President (1994-1997) of Fonds de solidarité des travailleurs du Québec (FTQ).
