During his 12 year career at Bell Canada and its subsidiaries Mr. Root was appointed to several senior management positions, the last one being Vice-President of Product Development at Bell Sygma International. Since then Mr. Root has successfully co-owned and operated a software development company as well as a consulting firm, served as Chief Operating Officer for a fleet management systems development company and recently as President & CEO of a leading Canadian provider of biometric authentication solutions. Mr. Root’s accomplishments include raising venture capital for several companies and the management of large product development teams successfully delivering commercial software and hardware products and projects in the international telecommunications and security markets. Mr. Root joined TechnoMontréal in November 2007 as General Manager.
TechnoMontréal’s mission is to contribute to the economic development of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) cluster of Greater Montréal. The ICT cluster of Greater Montréal is part of the initiative of the industrial clusters put by the front by three governmental landings, under the leadership of the ICT cluster of Greater Montréal regroups 5,000 private companies and 120,000 jobs. It contributes to the prosperity of the Montréal region with 5 billion dollars in exports in 2006.private sector.
