An engineering graduate from the École Nationale Supérieure de Chimie de Montpellier (1981), with an MBA from EM Lyon (1991), Gilles Gaquère began his career in 1985 as Director of R&D, and then of Ceramic Production, at Thomson-CSF; then at Tekelec Microwave.
In 1991, after obtaining his MBA at EM Lyon, he joined the Chambre de commerce et d’industrie (CCI) de Lyon, first as a business development advisor and then, starting in 1994, as Director of the Novacité European Business and Innovation Centre (EBIC), a coaching structure for creation of innovative young businesses integrating the management and animation of three incubators.
After integrating the Innovation and ICT teams of the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de Lyon, he has headed, since 2005, the Innovation & Development Department, a team of 25 people, including 20 advisors in charge of business development.
The CCI takes action to develop a competitive economic fabric. The CCI de Lyon looks after management of facilities and infrastructures and seeks to increase and improve training potential and strengthen the internationalization of businesses and its territory. It is composed of Parc des expositions Eurexpo (exhibition and convention centre), Lyon-Saint Exupéry and Lyon-Bron Airports, the Musée des Tissus et des Arts décoratifs de Lyon (museum of fabrics and decorative arts) and EM LYON Business School.
