Mechanical engineer of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) with specialization in applied thermodynamics and turbo-machinery. 1978-1979, research and development engineer in the central R&D department of SULZER Co, Switzerland with activities in new products and systems in the field of medium temperature thermodynamic cycles and experimental analysis of internal stresses of materials. 1979-1988, experimental test pilot at the Swiss federal aircraft factory with numerous test flights and evaluations experiences mainly on military fighter jets and trainer aircraft. Graduate of the U.S. Navy Test Pilot School of Patuxent River, Maryland.
Since 1988, research contracts officer and licensing officer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL). Manager of the Industrial relations office of EPFL (SRI) since 1998, the technology transfer and research contracts office of EPFL.
Gabriel Clerc is member of the Association of university technology managers (AUTM) and of the Association of European science and technology transfer professionals (ASTP). He is co-founder and president of the Swiss technology transfer association "swiTT", an association working for universities, federal institutes of technology and public higher education and research institutions.
